Walton to Pick Up Vredestein Distribution

Published June 6, 2011

BOULDER, CO—Former Veltec Sports executive Hugh Walton has taken over distribution of Vredestein Two Wheel Tires in the U.S. and Canada through Move Sport, Inc., a company founded by his wife three years ago.

Last week, the Dutch tire company announced plans to change its U.S. distribution and part ways with Veltec Sports. Walton said he began talking with Vredestein this spring shortly after he resigned from Veltec, where he was vice president of sales, product and marketing.

Move Sport announced the new distribution deal on Monday. Hugh Walton will manage Vredestein while Susan Eastman Walton will continue to develop and market the RecoFit brand of compression products for Move Sport.

Marc Ganzeboom, manager of marketing and Sales of Vredestein Two Wheel Tires, said, “Hugh brings passion, enthusiasm, a distinguished industry history and extensive contacts with both customers and sales agents. Move Sport is exactly what we are looking for to take Vredestein to the next level.”

Move Sport will begin shipping a wide range of racing, training, commuter and MTB tires immediately.

“I’ve been an enthusiastic user of Vredestein tires for several years,” said Hugh Walton. “As a racer, I’d grown up using tubulars. Here’s a company that makes the world’s finest clinchers that feel and ride like tubulars. That really impressed me from the start. The range of products, from road racing and training to mountain, cyclocross and commuter is just fantastic, with more to come. It’s a great company and we are honored to be working with the team at Vredestein.”

Move Sport has already built a strong network of independent sales agents for Vredestein tires. Interested dealers can contact Move Sport at 720-440-9007 or info@Vredesteinbike.com to find out more about who their sales agent is, to place orders and make general inquiries. A web site, www.Vredesteinbike.com will be functional by the end of the month.
