TAIPEI, Taiwan (BRAIN) Jan 31, 12:25 MT—At age 81, Merida founder Ike Tseng passed away Monday. Tseng founded Merida Industry Co. Ltd. in September 1972 and became an icon of the international bicycle industry.

GOLDEN, CO (BRAIN)—Sky Yaeger, senior product manager at Spot Brand, has left the Golden, Colorado-based company in a product development restructuring.

SACRAMENTO, CA (BRAIN)—Performance road retailer Ikon Cycles has moved to a bigger location in Sacramento, tripling in size to 1,500 square feet, but don’t expect to find more bikes on display. Instead, owner Adrian Moore has expanded his fit area, installed a bank of Tacx trainers and put in a customer lounge.

ARROYO GRANDE, CA (BRAIN)—Ira Hughes, who started work at his bike shop when he was 12, died Thursday night of a brain tumor after a seven-month-long illness. Hughes was 58.
