LOUISVILLE, CO (BRAIN) — Juergen Eckmann is stepping down as president of Pearl Izumi, the company announced Tuesday, after 11 years with the company. Eckmann will be replaced by Mike O'Connor, who is being promoted from vice president of consumer service, retail & distribution.

AIGLE, Switzerland (BRAIN) — Julien Carron is stepping down as technology coordinator at the international cycling union, UCI, at the end of November, the organization announced Friday.

Carron has been central to the UCI's equipment approval program, including its "UCI Approved" frame stickers.

RICHMOND, VA (BRAIN) — Retailer Ann “Spike” Toler, a mainstay of the Richmond cycling scene who unexpectedly passed away last week at age 50, will be remembered during a tribute mountain bike ride Wednesday originating at her shop, Coqui Cyclery.

HOUSTON, TX (BRAIN) — Kyle Bennett, a member of the 2008 U.S. Olympic BMX team, was killed early Sunday in a single-vehicle auto accident.

According to reports, Bennett, 33, died when he drove his truck off a road and through a culvert, hitting several trees and a gate.
