Bicycling Mag Moves West Coast Office

Published April 1, 2008

EMMAUS, PA (BRAIN)—Bicycling and Mountain Bike magazines have moved their West Coast office from Burbank to Valencia.

Bicycling editor-in-chief Steve Madden said Valencia is a better location for testing and meeting with people in the industry.

“We’re moving because our lease was up on our office in Burbank and the rent was going up. We looked around and it makes a lot more sense to have our testing office in a place you can ride safely,” Madden said.

“Ron can huck off the loading dock and be up on a dirt trail. It’s close to a good road for testing. It’s closer to everybody and it makes it easier for everyone in the industry when they come to visit as it’s in the same vicinity as other mags.”

Ron Koch will continue to staff the So Cal office, sharing testing duties with Mike Cushionbury in Emmaus and Matt Phillips in Durango, Colorado.

Madden said spreading out test editors allows the magazines to test bikes in more varied conditions. The Southern California office is essential for winter riding and photo shoots.

“We wanted to keep the L.A. office; it’s important to have a place with access to sunshine,” Madden said.

The new office is at 28538 Constellation Road, Valencia, CA 91355; the new telephone number is (661) 294-7770. The new phone number should work by today.
