DAYTON, Ohio (BRAIN) — Longtime industry professional Bob Stomel died Tuesday. He was 59. Stomel's 45-year career began working in a local bike shop in Philadelphia and concluded with him as director of sales for Huffy Corp.

The cause of death was not disclosed.

"Bob always included Huffy as part of his family," said Mike O'Gara, Huffy's senior vice president of sales. "Bob's contributions to this organization are too numerous to name, but suffice it to say, he gave Huffy everything he had every day."

Stomel worked at Huffy for a little over 25 years. Before that he was national sales manager/director for Raleigh USA for nearly 12 years.

Stomel was born in Springboro, Ohio, and was known for developing deep relationships with his customers. "His customers trusted him with their business. That is the greatest compliment a salesperson could ever hope to achieve," according to a United Wheels news release about Stomel's passing. United Wheels is the parent company of Huffy.

A graveside service is scheduled for Thursday at Riverview Cemetery at Glickler Funeral Home in Dayton, Ohio, at 1 p.m.

"Bob's love for cycling and the cycling industry was only surpassed by his love for his family and friends," United Wheels said. "Bob was a man of the people, a true connector, and a mentor to countless employees and people he connected with throughout his life."
