GM Acquires Specialized in Blockbuster

MORGAN HILL, CA (BRAIN)—Carlton Reid at Bikebiz.com broke this story yesterday.

(April Foolish: It started with several emails to BRAIN asking if GM's purchase of Specialized was true. A quick click on BikeBiz.com, a British Web site run by Carlton Reid, boasted an impressive headline: "General Motors to Purchase Morgan Hill Bicycle Company." It then linked to a story purportedly from the San Jose Business Journal.
A quick call to Mike Sinyard prompted a laugh and a quote:
"If it had been BMW or Porsche, now that would have been exciting. But GM?" Mike sent Reid a note asking him not to leave it up too long.
