Mountain Flyer Subs Raising Trail Money

GUNNISON, CO (BRAIN)—By donating money with each new subscription, Mountain Flyer magazine has already raised thousands of dollars this year that will go toward building new trails and working on access issues.

Mountain Flyer, the national cycling magazine covering the Rocky Mountain cycling scene, has been donating $5 in the subscriber’s name for every new or renewed subscription and then matching that with an additional $5. Subscribers can also choose to kick in an additional five bucks to increase the donation to IMBA from $10 to $15. The cycling magazine will donate the
full amount to the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) for its advocacy and trail work.

Through the promotion, Mountain Flyer has raised a total of $3,000 since December 2008. “We've been overwhelmed by the response to this promotion,” said Brian Riepe, Mountain Flyer editor/publisher. “Our new subscriptions since December 2008 are nearly three times that of the same period in 2007, and I think this fundraising effort for IMBA has played a big part in that growth.

“The response just shows how important IMBA’s work on trails and access is to our readers,” Riepe added. “We intend to keep the promotion going indefinitely."

The magazine will donate the first $1,000 to IMBA’s Annual Fund, a fund the nonprofit association uses to help communities build quality singletrack, advocate for open space, and engage in partnerships with public land agencies. The next $2,000 will go to IMBA’s legal advocacy fund, used to promote shared access and fight to retain mountain biking access.
