LONGMONT, CO (BRAIN)—After 23 years in business Colorado's High Gear Cyclery is closing in the next couple of weeks due to the tumultuous economy.

“This decision has been one of the most difficult in those 23 years, but the economy has battered us and I have no choice,” owner Buzz Feldman wrote in a letter he sent to his customers.

Feldman was unavailable for comment yesterday.

Feldman said he will continue to be an advocate for Longmont's cycling community, working as a bike safety instructor and a Safe Route to Schools coordinator.
