Specialized Launches S-Tune for Dealers
Share/Bookmark

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (BRAIN)—Specialized Bicycle Components has launched S-Tune—a new service to Specialized dealers that will help customize the performance of Specialized-Branded suspension components precisely to the demands of any rider.

Since 2007, Specialized has offered proprietary suspension components on many models, helping consumers and retailers maintain these systems, offering both parts and service in a timely, professional manner.

Heading into the 2010 season, responding to feedback from riders and dealers, the Salt Lake City, Utah Service Center will start offering custom tuning and valving on all proprietary Specialized-branded rear shocks and forks produced for the 2007-2009 model years.

“Our commitment is to provide the best possible rider experience and this service is another step toward this commitment. Typically this is for bigger riders looking for a firmer platform or more compression/rebound performance,” said Richard Wheeler, global service center manager. “Smaller riders are also letting us know they need custom tunes too. Given the amount of feedback we are getting, it’s only natural that we roll out a program that meets the needs of these riders.”

For a limited time, the S-Tune custom tuning service will be offered to dealers at the same price as a major service.

* Most rear shocks - $80.00
* Forks starting at $100

Regular S-Tune custom tune rates will start at $100 for rear shocks and forks will start at $125 including parts and labor dealer cost. Markup at the dealer level is up the individual dealer.

“This program is set up so the customer works directly with their dealer, so it’s another chance for Specialized dealers to get more people in the door,” Wheeler said.

Rider information will be collected via a questionnaire that each rider fills out, ensuring each custom tune is dialed right into the individual rider’s size, weight, riding style and pedal platform preferences.

Wheeler noted that a tuning program for 2010 Specialized proprietary Fox shocks and Specialized forks is currently in development and will be launched as soon as the service team has met its own strict performance goals with the new equipment.
