Mike Sinyard Rides 600 Miles to Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NV (BRAIN)—Specialized founder and president Mike Sinyard and a handful of employees will roll into Interbike’s Outdoor Demo this morning following a five-day ride from the company’s headquarters. The group left the company’s Morgan Hill, California, headquarters on Friday to ride to the Interbike trade show. Sinyard and his team will pedal roughly 600 miles across the Sierra, through Death Valley and the Mojave Desert on their way to Las Vegas.

“We know that one long ride won’t reverse global climate change,” said Sinyard. “But we believe riding to the show will make a strong statement about our search for pedal powered solutions that will slow climate change. We also hope it’ll inspire others to join us in the fight.”

Sinyard and company planned to make the trip in five tough days, each one promising between 100 and 150 miles. The planned route covered a handful of mountain passes (including 8,453-foot Owens Peak in the southern Sierra Mountains) in the first two days and lead the group through Death Valley and the rest of the Mojave Desert on days three, four and five.

“We realize that not everyone can ride on their next business trip, but we hope that our adventure will encourage others to find fun and adventurous ways to cut their carbon footprint and help battle climate change with pedal powered solutions,” Sinyard said.
