Kryptonite Installs Racks in Four Cities
Share/Bookmark

CANTON, MA (BRAIN)—Kryptonite is installing permanent bike racks in select cities nationwide. The Kryptonite racks have been installed in Portland, Oregon and Blue Island, Illinois.

The racks will be installed in Austin, Texas, Palos Heights, Illinois and additional racks in Portland within the next few weeks.

This is one initiative within the company’s “Feel Free to Stop” campaign.

“Kryptonite’s new messaging is based on the fact that we know you have great adventures on your bike, but we also want you to be comfortable exploring off the bike as well and know that we’re keeping it safe for you,” said Karen Rizzo, director of marketing for Kryptonite. “Kryptonite enjoyed working with each of these city governments to ensure cyclists in their respective cities would have more options for safe bike parking. We hope cyclists will ride to their favorite spot more often because there will be a safe spot to lock their bike while they eat, shop or explore.”

Kryptonite is in the process of having over 75 racks in four cities installed. Portland and Blue Island were two of the first locations with the racks. Mayor Donald Peloquin joined Kryptonite and members of Chicagoland Bicycle Federation in christening the racks in his city of Blue Island.

“We want to thank Kryptonite for selecting Blue Island to participate in their Feel Free to Stop campaign,” said Donald E. Peloquin, mayor of Blue Island. “Blue Island was built as a pedestrian and bicycle friendly community and Kryptonite is helping us get back to our roots.”

Kryptonite will become increasingly involved in cycling-rich communities across the country, building on its brand relaunch activities this year. The company sponsored bike valet programs in San Francisco, Austin and Portland, was the national bike valet sponsor of the Bicycle Film Festival and supported over 100 grassroots events in 2007.
