Marin Hires New VP of Branding, Design

NOVATO, CA (BRAIN)—Tom Gorton, founder of Sausalito-based design agency Studio Aspect, has provided product branding and marketing design services to Marin on a contract basis since 2003. Gorton now joins Marin as of January 1, 2009 as vice president – branding & design.

Gorton will lead the next generation of Marin branding initiatives from a new studio in a recently completed building on the Marin campus in Novato. Part of his staff from his agency will be accompanying him to Marin to round out the new design team, adding in-house support for Marin’s Web and print based communication projects.

“Over the last few years Tom has become an integral part of the Marin product and marketing team," said Matt Dowling, president of Marin. "The addition of Tom as a full-time member of Marin is the logical next step in the relationship.”

Among other benefits of the addition of Gorton full-time to the Marin team, Dowling cited the increased importance of design coordination with vendors at early stages of model year planning.

Also, Nick Wade, key account manager at Marin since 2006, has accepted the newly created position of marketing coordinator Asia-Pacific. Based in Australia, Wade will have responsibility for execution of Marin’s marketing strategies in the region with direct responsibility for Event Management, Dealer Training and Technical Support.

Tom Brown, Marin’s director of international sales and marketing points out that "Nick’s well-rounded industry experience and exceptionally strong product knowledge have contributed greatly to Marin’s U.S. domestic growth over the last few years. We are eager for Nick to apply his experience and skills in continuing to build the Marin brand in the Asia-Pacific region."
