New MTB Web Site Launches

Published July 10, 2009

IRVINE, CA (BRAIN)—Vital Media Network has launched a new Web site callled VitalMTB.com.

Targeting hardcore mountain bike riders, Vital MTB's editorial mix will cover all segments of the sport, with an emphasis on the fast-growing gravity disciplines. Like Vital BMX and Vital MX, Vital MTB will be a blend of professionally-generated content, user-generated content, product information, social network and more.

“Our sport is missing a truly comprehensive site that delivers great original content and also brings riders together in community,” said Shawn Spomer, Vital MTB’s content director. “Vital MTB will fill this void. Our mission is to be the point of connection within the mountain bike scene. Riders can connect with other riders, follow the news, seek advice, watch videos, upload content, research products and more.”

Spomer spent two years at Decline magazine and has been running Littermag.com since 2003. Littermag was created as a personal project to promote the downhill and freeride scene and has become a leading site within the sport.

“Littermag.com has a devoted following, so we will be moving its content archive to Vital MTB and redirecting its URLs. This will give Vital MTB’s traffic a great rolling start with a large and diverse audience,” said Todd Toth, Vital’s vice president of marketing services.

Vital MTB’s contributors include veteran mountain bike photographers Sven Martin and Gary Perkin. Both are renowned for the stories and images they capture on the UCI World Cup circuit.

“Vital remains independently owned and focused exclusively on digital media. Unlike most traditional media conglomerates that are struggling through the transition to digital, we have grown and thrived. We attribute this to our focus on technology, great content, and to the efficiency and value that digital media delivers to marketers,” said Brad McDonald, Vital Media Network’s president.
