BRAIN Dealer Tour to Canvas Coastal City

Published February 28, 2011

SAN DIEGO, CA (BRAIN)—Bicycle Retailer & Industry News editors and sponsors are rolling out this morning to begin a three-day bike tour of San Diego shops.

Over the next three days, BRAIN staff and sponsors will personally visit a dozen retailers in this vibrant year-round cycling market. Editors will talk with storeowners about the local cycling culture, the state of specialty retail, and if they are seeing a rebound in consumer purchasing.

The San Diego Dealer Tour will start today in North County, stopping at shops along Pacific Coast Highway, a scenic stretch popular with local cycling clubs. It will then head south to visit some of the downtown area’s colorful urban stores. It will wrap up the final day with visits to retailers in the city’s sprawling suburbs.

Sponsors Campagnolo, Ergon, Lifeboat Events, Masi, Todson and Zoic will join BRAIN staff to canvas the coastal city, visiting its diverse specialty retailers. Sponsor company representatives will have a unique opportunity to engage in discussion with retail storeowners and gain an understanding of each dealer’s unique perspective.

“I’ve been wanting to get involved with the BRAIN Dealer Tour since its inception. I think it’s a really great way to gain insight into what the IBDs need from their suppliers, how they perceive their suppliers, and what challenges they face day to day in this rapidly evolving global market. It’s important for us to know their needs so that we can do our best to support their growth and future successes,” said Tom Kattus, general manager of Campagnolo North America.

“Campagnolo has been making a concerted effort to get closer to IBDs, their staff, and our end consumers around the world through our Revolution 11 Tour. The San Diego BRAIN Dealer Tour and the companies involved offers a unique platform for us to integrate the Revolution 11 Tour with our industry friends and is a catalyst to stimulate productive conversation with the diverse dealer network in San Diego.”
