UK E-Bike Maker Breaking into U.S Market

Published April 7, 2011

BATH, United Kingdom (BRAIN)—Powabyke EV Ltd, the UK-based brand of electric powered bikes, have struck a deal with The Brandsco PLC for exclusive distribution rights in the United States. This continues the fast paced expansion of Powabyke beyond the UK after a series of distribution deals for European territories.

The agreement with The Brandsco PLC promises to be long running and substantial with the first order of 4,000 bikes due to be shipped out to the United States.

Nick Child, Powabyke MD said of the partnership, “I am obviously delighted to secure such a key territory for Powabyke. Last year we presented the new bikes at the Interbike International Bicycle Expo in Las Vegas and both the American public and trade loved our new X-bykes. Electric bikes are increasing in popularity worldwide and particularly in the U.S. as oil prices continue to rise and people look at alternative means of transport. There is a massive opportunity for Powabyke in the U.S. and we are confident The Brandsco PLC will achieve great success there.”

“Extensive research has convinced us that Powabyke will be well received in the U.S.,” said Marcus Cassidy, CEO of The Brandsco PLC. “We are delighted to represent the Powabyke brand and the new X-byke clearly represents exceptional value for money. Powabyke will stand out amongst the current electric bike offerings and we intend to emphasise the British theme by introducing the Union Jack Flag to the branding.”
