Blue appoints rep in Southwest

NORCROSS, GA (BRAIN)—Blue Competition Cycles has hired Michael Lax as a rep for the southwest region. Lax will be responsible for sales in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana, an area the Norcross, Georgia, company has identified as a growth opportunity.

Lax is based in Austin, Texas. He joins Blue less than a month after the company added rep Wes Spruell in the Southeast.

In two years Blue has more than doubled its sales rep force in the U.S. With its latest hire, the company now has 13 sales reps.

Venice e-bike concept store turns 1

LOS ANGELES, CA (BRAIN)—After a full year in business, Currie Technologies’ e-bike concept store has met its initial goals, said company president Larry Pizzi.

“Our goal was to create a real life retail environment to test our training, marketing and merchandising of our electric bicycles while learning more about what consumers want from our category,” he said. “One year later, we have made great progress while getting more people out of their cars and riding bicycles.”

The Izip store serves as model for bike shops around the country, said Ethan Grunstein, retail general manager of the Izip stores. “Our business model highlights the specific requirements of the e-bike consumer and provides valuable information that can be incorporated into the IBD.”
