PROVIDENCE, RI (BRAIN) — Industry veteran and Mountain Bike Hall of Fame inductee Jim Wannamaker has been named to the board of advisors for the Providence Cyclo-cross Festival, the event announced this week.

"Who knows more about bike expos at events than Jim Wannamaker?" asked Richard Fries, event director. "This guy has built several brands largely through event and expo presence. He's been a regular exhibitor at Providence and cares deeply about the event. He kept pestering me with idea after idea after idea. So I asked him to join the team."

Wannamaker is currently the sales and marketing manager at KMC Chain. His role with Providence is solely in an advisory capacity.

"I've been to every edition of the Providence Cyclo-cross Festival as an exhibitor or sponsor," said Wannamaker. "I've watched it grow year after year. I just see so much potential for so much more growth. I'm eager to be a part of this next chapter in helping Providence become the biggest cycling event in New England."

Wannamaker also will provide mentorship to professional cyclist Nick Keough, who joins the event team as the expo coordinator. Keough comes from one of America's most famous cycling families. Two of his brothers, Jake and Luke, race for the UnitedHealthcare cycling team.
