De Soto celebrates 25th year in business

Published March 10, 2014

SAN DIEGO (BRAIN) — De Soto Sport is celebrating the start of its 25th year in business and company founder and CEO Emilio De Soto said maintaining a happy and healthy staff has been one key to longevity.

For example, De Soto's business day runs from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. — allowing employees to get out and train afterwork. De Soto also pays 100 percent of its employees' health insurance and employees get a paid day off on their birthdays.

"We value our team members greatly," said Tracy M. De Soto, the company's CFO. "De Soto is a superior brand, but the team ensures customer satisfaction and loyalty. Our team has allowed us to realize 25 years of success."

While known first as a triathlon brand, De Soto said the company has an increased presence in the cycling world.

"We have not only been at the past 24 consecutive Interbike shows, but a good percentage of our total sales are in our De Soto Grupo Ciclismo, our road cycling specific category, and the majority of our dealers are bike shops and tri shops that sell bicycles," he said.
