Carbon bike repair service, Broken Carbon, expands and offers wholesale pricing

Published April 26, 2017

BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — Broken Carbon, which repairs and refinishes carbon bike frames, has expanded its staff, hiring composites expert Cameron Frazer as its lead repair technician.

"Cameron has extensive knowledge with composites backed by undergraduate and graduate degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Auckland. He has experience in aerospace and military composites applications and these will translate greatly into the cycling industry. We look forward to expanding our repair capabilities with his expertise," said Broken Carbon owner Brady Kappius. Kappius is also president of Kappius Components.

Broken Carbon is also reaching out to local bike retailers with a wholesale pricing program. "By offering carbon repair services directly through shops, we can add significant value to both the shop and the consumer to keep frames out of the trash and on the road or trail. The cost of a repair is significantly less than that of a new frame at retail and even crash replacement prices. When a warranty replacement isn't an option, carbon repair is a great solution. Both the shop and the customer come out happy in the end," Kappius said.

Retailers interested in signing up should email repairs@brokencarbon.com.

Broken Carbon offers additional levels of cosmetic finishes through its partnership with Spectrum Paint and Powder Works, also in Boulder. "The team at Spectrum has a huge history of unmatched paint detail and quality for consumers and small builders alike. We look forward to offering their services to our carbon repair customers as well," Kappius said.
