Texas retailer Chad Plumlee opens third store, Giant Lakeside, in DFW area

Published July 29, 2016

FLOWER MOUND, Texas (BRAIN) — Longtime Texas retailer Chad Plumlee has opened his third store, called Giant Lakeside. The new location will serve the market around the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including the communities of Flower Mound, Grapevine, and Coppell.

The 3,500-square foot location carries Giant, Liv, and Momentum brands exclusively.

Plumlee opened his first business, Cadence Cyclery, in McKinney, Texas, in 2011. Three years later, he opened a second Cadency Cyclery location 32 miles away in Highland Village. His second location is a Giant Partner Store.

After working with Giant on that project, Plumlee decided to launch Giant Lakeside, working with the Giant Retail Services team to design the new business.

"We're proud to be Giant's first brand store in the entire DFW market," he said. "Our mantra is 'experience modern cycling with old-school service' and we take that to heart with every customer who walks in the door. General Manager Damon Williams and I work hard to infuse this attitude throughout all the stores. Combining this experience with the most current industry knowledge allows us to be integrated into the community and deliver true value to all our patrons."

James Yao, Giant's retail services executive for the East, said, "Giant Lakeside is just yards from the Northshore Trail, one of the best mountain biking areas in the entire Dallas-Fort Worth area.

"We worked with Chad and his team to create a great looking, functional store that services the entire spectrum of cyclists – from a child's first bike to the hardcore racer."

Yao added, "The store is on the small side by Texas standards, but it still has everything a cyclist needs in terms of gear and bicycles – and it has incredible service."

The Giant Lakeside grand opening took place July 15–17, and featured demo rides on brand new 2017 Liv and Giant performance road and mountain bikes, raffle giveaways (including a new Momentum Park bicycle) and also a TUPPS Brewery Beer Tasting.
