Portland, Ore. (July 16, 2020) -- In 2019 North St. Bags joined 1% for the Planet, a non-profit organization whose business members commit to donating 1% of their annual sales to environmental causes. Members choose which of the network's non-profit partners they support and for this year, North St. Bags has chosen, and donated to, Portland's Community Cycling Center (CCC), specifically their food delivery program.

The CCC's food delivery program was initiated during the COVID-19 crisis as a way to support the communities the organization works in. The program delivers food by bicycle to several low-income and primarily minority neighborhoods in Portland.

"We chose to support this program because we really wanted to direct our donation in a way that would impact our local community," says North St. Bags founder, Curtis Williams. "Portland has always supported us and we're happy to be able to give back in this time of need."

North St. has supported the CCC for several years. They've collaborated on projects and partnered to spread the word of each other's initiatives. Other CCC programs include maintenance clinics, providing low-cost commuter bikes, safety education, and a variety of STEM programming that involves building bikes in local schools.
