Company Makes Fundamental Shift Towards eBike Expansion in North America

July 1, 2021 – Tustin, CA – At the historic and impressive Marconi Automotive Museum Bianchi USA's CEO Pat Hus and the North American leadership team introduced an extensive and innovative collection of new e bike models including eMTB's, Touring and city models. The new range of bikes will be arriving in North American dealers beginning in July/August and continuing into the fall.

The primary purpose of the event was to introduce the new e-Omnia eBike collection of bicycles that were prominently displayed throughout the museum with an expansive display of Ferraris and other exotic Italian cars serving as the backdrop. The evening started with a historical presentation of the impressive 136-year history of the Bianchi brand including racing legends like Fausto Coppi and Marco Pantani, "the Pirate''. Arguably two of the greatest World Tour riders of all time!

Clearly the message of the night was innovation, Hus said, "Bianchi did not get into the eBike space with a me-too product, it's innovative, it's different, it's got a look to it, it's got a story to it, I am so happy with what we did." Hus went on to say, "There is a new vision going on here today, and you will start to get a sense of it today, with new leadership in Italy and the USA." "Introducing Bianchi LIF-e, inspiration and innovation to deliver a new electric mobility and lifestyle collection."

The eBike collection includes all disciplines, road racing, gravel, mountain, city, touring, and he noted, "If there is an eBike opportunity, we are going to go after it, we are going to go after it aggressively." Hus stated emphatically. Bianchi started this project three years ago, hiring staff, engineers and product leaders to invest in the eBike space.

All the new e-Omnia model platforms feature Bosch motors and battery systems known for their quality, range, sophisticated motors and global support network.

MOUNTAIN - FX TYPE

The FX Type is a full-suspension model with 20 MPH top speed, 29" wheels, disc brakes, and an innovative gravity cast aluminum frame structure that allows Bianchi to integrate lights into the frame for both front and rear lighting. The lights remain functional for 2 hours even if the battery is depleted from regular riding. The FX model will retail for approximately $7,500 and should be available in the fall.

TOUR - T TYPE

The T Type is a front suspension model with 28 MPH top speed (Class 3), disc brakes, suspension seatpost, the same innovative gravity cast aluminum frame process that will come in a standard top tube and a Mid-step, more sloping top tube configuration. System integration includes a welded rear rack that can support child carriers, panniers and of course has the same innovative integrated lighting system. The Bosch battery has a key for security that is matched with an Abus locking system that also locks the bike using the same key for both systems. The range is allows for up to 65 miles, based on riding style and power mode selection Finally, the bike also meets the European ID54 waterproof standard to keep the bike working in all weather conditions. The T Type will retail for approximately $6,000 and is available in small, medium and large sizing with models arriving in late July.

CITY - C TYPE

The C Type has the same specs as the T Type but features a step-through frame and a saddle with rubber bumpers for added comfort, swept back handlebars for a more upright riding position, kickstand and a suspension seat post. It shares all the other racks, lights, motors, batteries and functionality as the T Type model and comes in sizes small, medium and large and will retail for approximately $5,700 and should arrive in August.

Expect more eBikes and all discipline models from Bianchi in 2022 in the spring and Hus made it clear that going forward Bianchi will be a full line brand with road, gravel, mountain, and of course eBikes to offer retailers a full offering of innovative Italian designed bicycles.
