The Colorado Based, For Women By Women Brand Blazed the Trail for Improved Fit, Bright Colors and Patterns, and Size Inclusion in the Women’s Mountain Bike Apparel Market

(Carbondale, Colo.) Feb. 23, 2022 SHREDLY, the women’s outdoor and mountain bike apparel brand, launched in January 2012 via a 30-day Kickstarter Campaign. What started as a small delivery of women’s mountain bike shorts to 128 backers, blossomed into a full women’s outdoor apparel line. For Ashley Rankin, SHREDLY founder and owner, it was a dream that started as one thing and ended up becoming far more.

"I launched SHREDLY amidst a shaky economy, in the middle of winter, with no social media following and a part-time job. Not what you would call a winning combo," said Rankin. "But what became apparent very quickly was that the mountain bike industry was hungry for an apparel brand that was doing something different and more importantly, entirely focused on women."

Quickly, SHREDLY became a trailblazer in women’s mountain bike apparel. Offering their take on a women’s specific fit, in an array of bright patterns, colors, and sizes, have earned numerous awards for the Best Women’s Mountain Bike Shorts by publications like Outside Magazine and others. While aesthetic, comfort, and fit are what the brand is best known for - SHREDLY is proud to have led the charge early on by offering inclusive sizing and committing to a sustainably-minded supply chain.

“We still receive feedback from women who exclaim they ‘finally found a brand making gear that actually fits them.’ While the industry has grown leaps and bounds from where it was ten years ago, it still feels really good to get those kinds of emails and it strengthens our desire to bring more and more of those folks into the fold,” said Rankin. “Not only do we want to continue to expand and evolve our product offering, but we want to do it in a way that helps build a future we can all look forward to. Sustainability and product development go hand in hand around here.”

In 2019, SHREDLY committed to only sourcing recycled or sustainable materials for any new production. Since many fabrics in the market didn’t meet the brand’s sustainability goals, SHREDLY developed their own fabric - ecoFAB, used for the majority of tops for the brand. This proprietary fabric is made of natural and recycled fibers and is produced in the USA. The short fabric was also domestically developed and in 2021 100% SHREDLY shorts were produced using recycled materials, while 93% of all their products have achieved recycled status.

In honor of the 10-year anniversary, SHREDLY released a 10-Year Capsule featuring the brand's two most popular and iconic prints - JONESY and TINA. Early this spring, SHREDLY will be releasing a full 2022 line featuring all-new product designs, as well as colorways.
