Irvine, CA (March 28, 2022)Heather Mason, President of the National Bicycle Dealers Association (NBDA) announced today the opportunity for the industry at large to join in a roundtable event to discuss and answer questions around the landmark Bicycle Buying 2021 Consumer Research Study conducted late last year. The virtual Roundtable event will feature slides not previously presented. The event is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday, March 30th

“This research project would not have been possible without support from our brand sponsors. It takes all of us to lift each other up and work toward the common goal of strengthening our industry. We look forward to sharing this roundtable event with both Bosch and SRAM to bring their insight and takeaways to all” stated Mason.

The NBDA 2021 Consumer Research Study brand report is a comprehensive 150-page report that contains detailed data, analysis, charts, and actionable information about the demographics of the American consumers that purchased which brands from what retail sources, at what retail prices, and with what accessories during the last two years. The report contains invaluable data for suppliers, brands, associates, and bicycle retail industry members for shaping their strategic and business planning around understanding consumer bicycle and ebike buying habits over the last two years.

Claudia Wasko, General Manager Bosch eBike Systems Americas, commented “The eBike segment continues to grow over-proportionately and has become a significant part of the cycling industry. We believe that the better we understand this consumer, the better we can meet their needs. We appreciate the work the NBDA is doing to understand and serve this segment and are grateful that they’ve included the eBike cyclist in this report.”

The Roundtable will feature Keith Storey, president of Sports Marketing Surveys USA (SMS) the research firm that conducted the Bicycle Buying 2021 Consumer Research Study for the NBDA.

“Keith Storey has nearly 30 years’ experience in business analysis and market research. Almost all this time has been spent specifically in the Sports and Sporting Goods Industry, making him one of the world’s leading authorities on sports market research. In addition to running the SMS U.S. office for 12-years, Keith manages all qualitative and quantitative research for a wide range of clients including sports equipment manufacturers, governing-bodies and trade associations.”

Keith will be joined by Jay Townley from Human Powered Solutions, Maggie Kay McBride, Rider Experience Manager, SRAM, and Anna Wassman, Business Development Manager, Bosch eBike Systems.  Each will present slides of their choosing to highlight and present key feedback on.

The Bicycle Buying 2021 Consumer Research Study is available in both supplier and retailer versions. The supplier version consists of 150 PowerPoint slides with analysis prepared by Keith Storey and his team at Sports Marketing Surveys. The complete Supplier Report is available on the NBDA website for $5,000 ($4,500 for NBDA Associate Members). The NBDA Bicycle Retailer Member Report cost is $399, and highlights not only the data, but also strategic and tactical suggestions for retailers to use in their planning.

Jay Townley added, “Suppliers and retailers have asked some important questions during our previous education webinars about the consumer research study, and this an opportunity for anyone who is interested in finding out more; specifically those brands and suppliers who would like a closer look at the research to see firsthand the depth of data captured in the brand report.”

For those looking for more information on the report and data findings, we suggest reviewing the 4-part webinar series the NBDA hosted earlier this year covering findings from the report. The recordings are available on the NBDA YouTube channel.
