Mühltal, 11.07.2025: Riese & Müller is now offering special textile repair kits as a sustainable repair solution for covers, seats and bags.
In future, end-users can repair minor damage to textile components of their e-bike quickly and easily, or have it repaired by a local tailoring company. The repair kits come in four different colours, each containing two original pieces of fabric and repair instructions. A repair kit can be ordered from your local dealer.
"The repair kits mean that we can make a big impact with a small piece of fabric," explains Sarah-Helene Sowa, Head of Sustainability at Riese & Müller. "While typical bike repairs can be done with ease by our dealers, until now we had to order a completely new product for damaged textiles, such as a tear in a child cover. The repair kit means that customers can now repair minor damage quickly and easily themselves and there is no longer a need to replace the product. This saves time and money, but also conserves important resources."
Repair not replace
The repair of components is an integral part of the circular design approach that Riese & Müller already adopts in its product development. The focus is on designing products in such a way that they can be maintained and repaired as easily as possible and then used for as long as possible.
Circular design is part of the Riese & Müller comprehensive sustainability strategy. It includes reusable packaging for the shipment of e-bikes, the use of certified recycled aluminium in frame construction, zero waste and zero emission initiatives at the site and full transparency along the supply chain.
Riese & Müller was awarded the German Sustainability Award 2025 and is continuously working on a sustainable approach to business and fulfilling its social, economic and ecological responsibility.
