Grantees Will Benefit from Education Programs

BOULDER, Colo. (August 8, 2025) — The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) announces the fall 2025 application round is open for Trail Accelerator Grants (TAG). This fall grant period is expanded beyond planning and design services to include community education for trail maintenance, fundraising and strategic planning. Awardees will receive IMBA education services that best suit their needs, goals and vision.

Local, municipal, state, or federal government agencies, 501(c)(3) nonprofits that actively manage parks and trails, mountain bike clubs, and IMBA Local Membership Organizations may apply. Each grant is an award of IMBA educational programming, and awardees will supply a match. Grants can be up to $6k value, depending on the type of education services they are requesting. Applications will be accepted until August 31, 2025.

● IMBA Trail Care Schools are two-day, in-person workshops that equip volunteers and land management staff with the skills necessary to maintain modern mountain bike trails.
Classroom instruction covers sustainable trail design principles with a focus on modern drainage techniques, helping develop trail-wise eyes before heading out into the field.
Hands-on work includes assessing maintenance needs, identifying appropriate solutions, and developing the techniques to implement those solutions effectively.
● Fundraising Education Services is a virtual-based consulting service that empowers applicants with key strategies and best practices for fundraising and capital campaigns.
IMBA will provide detailed coaching and grant research. Applicants present a well-conceived project or campaign that is ready for fundraising in order to receive this support. This is a coaching and prospecting service.
● Strategic Planning is a two-day, in-person facilitated planning process for grassroots mountain bike / trail organizations. Participants will create an impact roadmap ensuring the organization's work is intentional, coordinated, and measurable. Attendees will take away defined, long-term goals and priorities that help guide decision-making and resource allocation.

One 2024 TAG awardee, Southern Nevada Mountain Bike Association (SNMBA) in Las Vegas, NV utilized their grant for conceptual trail planning. That process led to miles of new trail and so much other progress. Read more about their trail journey on imba.com. Since its inception, the program has provided $675,000 to 48 communities nationally, leveraging $14 million in local support

“Previous Trail Accelerator Grant rounds have focused on funding planning and design efforts, which are often the most difficult stage of trail development to garner funding for," said David Wiens, IMBA Executive Director. “With this fall 2025 round of TAG, IMBA expands upon the available options, helping trail advocates and organizations select the path that best fits their particular situation. Be it trail maintenance, funding projects or growing the local trail organization, the IMBA team is pleased to expand offerings to support trail champions.”
