Industry leaders converge in Taiwan to showcase AI-driven technology, the evolution of e-mobility, and the future of green urban transit
30 March 2026 – Taipei, Taiwan: TAIPEI CYCLE 2026, organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), concluded today. Running from March 25 to 28, this year's exhibition centred on the theme "Cycling to Wellness," reflecting a global pivot toward healthy lifestyles, AI-driven sports technology, and ESG-led manufacturing.
As the most influential platform for the bicycle industry in the Asia-Pacific, the 2026 show attracted thousands of international buyers. Amidst global supply chain restructuring, the event underscores Taiwan's critical role in R&D and advanced manufacturing, featuring over 900 exhibitors across 3,450 booths. Notably, international participation remains strong, with more than 200 global exhibitors.
Industry leaders from legacy brands such as Colnago, GIANT, SRAM and Merida utilized the four-day event as a way to navigate the evolving market landscape. By facilitating direct engagement between international buyers, global media, and specialist manufacturers such as BLKTEC, the show provided an unparalleled environment for exchanging high-level insights on emerging trends and the shift toward authentic, concept-driven brand storytelling.
The 2026 show also highlighted a major leap in sports tech, led by a maturing gravel market and new 32-inch wheels. Alongside AI and e-mobility, these innovations demonstrate how the industry is evolving and integrating across sectors.
By showcasing everything from complete bikes and smart components to advanced materials, the event highlights a complete industry upgrade. As cycling becomes central to green commuting and healthy living, the show continues to grow the culture through hands-on exhibits and new experiences. This strong focus on innovation coincides with the global cycling industry's gradual emergence from its high-inventory adjustment phase, marked by steady market recovery and returning sales momentum in Europe and North America.
Herwig Reus, Marketing and Sales Manager at Messwerk, said: "Messwerk came to Taipei Cycle Show because it's such an influential show for the APAC region. It provides us with the perfect chance to connect with a lot of very important retailers and distributors. For Messwerk, it has been tremendous to receive feedback and interest from those people as we bring our new product to the market."
Daryl Chang, Vice President of Sales at Merida Company, said: "Merida has attended the Taipei Cycle Show since the beginning. The show is excellent, bringing all the biggest brands together. It's a very good opportunity for Merida to connect with partners, exchange ideas, and discuss future trends and how we can work together. Because the show also has public days, it provides a good platform for consumers to see our new products."
Lance Lee, Managing Director of Trigon Bikes, said: "The Taipei Cycle Show provides Trigon Bikes with a great opportunity to connect with a lot of international buyers, visitors, and media. Right now, the cycling industry is quite mature, and I feel a lot of people are trying to introduce new concepts, whether it's integrating bike lights or software. For Trigon, I feel the future is going to be collaboration with other brands, for example, our collaboration with Rifare Co., a fashion brand from Taiwan. I think in the future, people will be more focused on concepts and the story behind the brand, not only buying the product."
Greg Grobler, Brand Manager at BLKTEC, said: "I believe that Taiwan is the hub for cycling. A lot of good manufacturers are here, so the Taipei Cycle Show is important for us to attend. It's like a one-stop shop. You can talk to your manufacturers, you can talk to your suppliers and get everything done at the show. I am excited about how the industry is shifting. We've had quite a few rough years after COVID, but hopefully, the next five years are going to look much better. Walking around the show, it's clear there's a lot of positivity and a strong focus on mobility."
Gabriele Sirtori, Marketing Manager at Colnago, said: "The Taipei Cycle Show is very important for Colnago and for the Asian market in general. It's a key market for us, and it's a very important occasion to meet our partners from the Asia-Pacific area. We are extremely happy to be here again this year. I'm excited about the growth of certain markets in Asia, and it's very important that historical European brands like Colnago open up their mentality and approach these cultures. The more we engage with local distributors and cyclists, the better we understand the market. This insight allows us to refine our products and cultivate stronger, more authentic connections with our customers in these regions."
Mark Vandermolen, Brand Manager for North America and Oceania at FSA/Vision, said: "For FSA/Vision, the Taipei Cycle Show is very good. We have our headquarters in Taichung, so most of our staff are already in Taiwan. It is an important show that allows us to meet our customers from all over the world. It really is the hub for the bicycle industry. We're seeing a lot of new developments at this year's show, like the 32-inch wheel trend. I'm curious to see where that goes—if it will become the standard, as the 29er did for mountain bikes, or if it will remain a niche. I think mountain bikes will also trend toward 32-inch wheels, so I'm excited to see how that develops over the next few years."
Ken Li, Head of Global PR and Marketing, GIANT Group, said: "For GIANT, the Taipei Cycle Show is like our home court – it's the best place to showcase our new products and technologies to the world. It serves as a vital platform for the global bicycle industry where we can meet partners, customers, and media from every corner of the globe. What's most exciting at this year's show is seeing how the industry is evolving. We're seeing a surge in people riding for commuting, exercise, and recreation. The development of e-bikes is making cycling more accessible to a wider audience. I believe the industry will continue to grow through constant innovation in both products and services, and I'm very much looking forward to what the future holds."
