All participating bicycle retailers will receive a complimentary copy of the final report

August 26, 2026 — The National Bicycle Dealers Association (NBDA) is pleased to announce that the 2026 NBDA Specialty Bicycle Retail Study Survey is now open, inviting Specialty Bicycle Retailers across the United States and Canada to participate.

The survey is open to all Specialty Bicycle Retailers, regardless of NBDA membership, and will remain open through September 22, 2026. Every retailer who completes the survey will receive a complimentary copy of the final report, scheduled for publication by October 2, 2026.

Data collected through the annual survey will result in two market-specific reports, one focused on the United States and one focused on Canada, allowing retailers and industry members to better understand the unique conditions, opportunities, and challenges within each market.

The 2026 NBDA Specialty Bicycle Retail Report will present a comprehensive analysis of the Specialty Bicycle Retail landscape. Built on data provided directly by bicycle retailers, the report will compare performance metrics from 2026 to 2025, offer forecasts and expectations for 2027, and provide in-depth insights into key areas of bicycle retail, including:

● Profitability and financial performance
● Sales and business trends
● Inventory management
● Staffing and labor
● Marketing and customer engagement
● Operational practices
● Technology adoption
● Business outlook and expectations for 2027

The goal is simple: provide retailers with meaningful information they can use to benchmark their businesses, make stronger decisions, and better understand where Specialty Bicycle Retail is headed.

"Retailers are making important decisions every single day, and having current, retailer-specific data gives them another tool to make those decisions with confidence," said Heather Mason, Executive Director of the NBDA. "What makes this report especially valuable is that the information comes directly from retailers. The more shops that participate, the stronger the data becomes, not only for individual retailers looking to benchmark their businesses, but for suppliers and the entire bicycle industry working to better understand and support Specialty Bicycle Retail. I encourage every retailer, NBDA member or not, to take part."

Participation from retailers of all sizes, business models, and geographic regions is encouraged. Strong participation will help the NBDA create a more accurate picture of the Specialty Bicycle Retail channel in both the United States and Canada.

Survey Deadline: September 22, 2026
Report Publication: By October 2, 2026
Who Can Participate: All Specialty Bicycle Retailers in the United States and Canada, regardless of NBDA membership
