Kemco, GLM Partner for Vuelta Wheels

Published June 12, 2008

PACOIMA, CA (BRAIN)—Kemco Group International has partnered with Kunshan Giant Light Metal Technology to produce Vuelta-branded wheels.

Vuelta Wheels are being manufactured at a new Shanghai factory under Vuelta China—the newly-created joint venture by Kemco and GLM, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Giant Global Group of Taiwan.

The first product will be the Zero-Lite by Vuelta entry-level wheel line at the end of July, for the OE market on bikes retailing under $500 (USD).

“Bicycles selling at this price point all tend to look alike,” said Tom Curran, vice president of Kemco. “We are offering quality wheels with our patented two-left/two-right spoke lacing pattern, which will make any bike stand apart from the rest of the crowd. Zero-Lite by Vuelta wheels are a value-added product that will really attract consumers to dealers.”

Besides Zero-Lite by Vuelta, high-end Vuelta wheels for the aftermarket will continue to be manufactured at a Taiwan factory.

Curran said that Vuelta wheels will be marketed at competitive price points to draw consumers looking for a distinctive product with highly desirable product features and performance.

“Whether the consumer is at the entry level or they’re a serious racer, there will be a Vuelta wheel that the IBD can sell to them,” Curran said.
