BANGKOK, Thailand (BRAIN) — Vittoria Tyres Thailand is opening a new 10,000-square-meter (108,000-square-foot) factory dedicated to cotton-casing tubular and clincher tires. The company said the factory, which will employ about 200 people, and is certified as carbon neutral by Climate Impact Partners.

The factory employs electric vulcanization processes, solar panels on the rooftop, reliance on renewable energy, paperless operations, electric automated guided vehicles, and carbon credits to reach the climate-neutral designation. The company said the factory has workspaces designed to provide "a friendly and enjoyable working environment."

The factory, which will be completed in March will also produce what the company calls "the most sustainable tire ever made," a gravel tire to be released next spring. The tire will be constructed of recycled materials including organic rubber compounds.

Vittoria Group, the parent company of Vittoria Tyres Thailand, has been investing in growth in recent years, opening a bike park at its headquarters in Italy and new U.S. offices in Bentonville, Arkansas. An Italian investor group took a majority stake in the company last December.
