Bird e-bikes now feature alarm system activated through app

Published June 3, 2022

LOS ANGELES (BRAIN) — E-bike company Bird developed a new alarm system for its owners in the U.S. The Over-the-Air anti-theft system is now available to current and new Bird e-bike owners.

The alarm is paired with the Bird app when the e-bike's serial number is entered. It emits a 1,200db sound, and the bike cannot be turned on until the alarm is deactivated.

"This new alarm function is another benefit for owners of Bird e-bikes," said Dan Dumonsau, Bird vice president of consumer products. "As gas prices continue to rise, a Bird e-bike provides an environmentally friendly transportation alternative, and an affordable way to get around."

Bird was founded in 2017 and provides fleets of shared micro electric vehicles to riders in more than 400 cities globally and offers e-bikes for purchase through retailers and distribution partners.
