Published November 30, 2008

PITTSBURGH, PA (BRAIN)—Dick’s Sporting Goods reports that its overall sales were $924.2 million, up 10 percent from its 2007 sales of $838.8 in the third quarter ending November 1.

The increase is sales is due to the inclusion of Golf Galaxy and Chick’s Sporting Goods retail stores this year. Same store sales dropped 2.8 percent during the quarter.

The company’s profit took a hit during the quarter, dropping 40 percent, from $12.2 to $7.4 million, mostly attributed to the costs related to its 2007 acquisition of Golf Galaxy.

During the third quarter of 2007 Dick’s operated from 417 storefronts. This year Dick's figures include 66 additional stores bringing the total to 483.
