Zipp’s Douglas Killed in Car Accident

Published June 7, 2010

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (BRAIN)—Zipp Speed Weaponry wheel product manager Jim Douglas lost his life this past Saturday in a car accident.

Douglas was on his way to a wedding when the vehicle that he and other members of the wedding party were traveling in was struck by an SUV, according to Zipp marketing manager Andy Paskins. Douglas was the only one to sustain fatal injuries.

Douglas actually started as one of Zipp’s first customer service reps in 2002. “Jim was the beginnings of our sales force,” Paskins said.

Douglas moved up the ranks quickly as an international sales rep and then SRAM road program manager. He started as Zipp’s wheel product manager at the beginning of this year.

“His biggest contribution was his personality,” Paskins said. “He was such a funny upbeat guy. He always saw the lighter side of things. That’s why he was so popular.”

The Indiana native grew up Brownsburg, and lived in Indianapolis. Douglas, an avid cyclist, is survived by his girlfriend, nine-month old daughter, parents and sister.

There has been a fund set up for his daughter. Please call Zipp’s human resources department for more information at (800) 472-3972.
