CARLSBAD, CA (BRAIN)—Focus Bicycles and Southern California Prestige Series of Cyclocross (SoCalCross) are taking their partnership to a much bigger stage, Griffith Park at The Greek Theatre.

One of the most vibrant cross racing series in the United States. SoCalCross features 20 races over 16 weeks and the Griffith Park race is the second of two events that will award sought after UCI points, according to a press release. Focus along with Shimano will provide funding as presenting sponsors and have the Rapha-Focus professional cyclocross team on hand to participate.

“Focus made its debut at the cyclocross world championships in 1992, so the sport is absolutely part of our DNA,” said Focus Bicycles USA CEO, Scott Rittschof. “We make a full range of cross bikes and want to support crossracers at all levels. Through our partnership with SoCalCross and this event, we’re helping to raise the visibility of this great sport in the vibrant Southern California cycling scene.”

Held in Los Angeles’ famous Griffith Park at the site of the world-renowned Greek Theatre, this weekend’s Prestige Series Double Header is a two-day event with coveted UCI points on the line. In addition to Rapha-Focus riders Chris Jones and Zach McDonald, the weekend will feature top competition including multi-time national champion Ryan Trebon and Chris Horner, a RadioShack team rider and top-ten finisher in this year’s Tour de France. In addition to UCI C.2 points for elite riders, there will be races for all ages and categories including two single speed categories. As with all SoCalCross weekends, the weekend will be free clincs and beginner’s cyclo-cross race. There will also be a road ride through Griffith Park, a classic bike show and a mid-season party.
