SAN DIEGO, CA (BRAIN)—Hermes Sport, a San Diego-based manufacturer of high-end carbon and aluminum wheels for road and mountain bikes, announced several changes to its product line, marketing and sales force this week.

The company introduced its ODB carbon wheelset for mountain bikes this fall, with either house-brand hubs and or Tune hubs. The company also has released a clincher version of its Excellence carbon road wheelset.

The company has launched a new social media campaign and has added new sales reps. Tom Holtzinger has been signed to handle Northern California sales, Rik Aguilera will handle Texas, and Owen Simpson will be the company’s representative in the Carolinas. In addition, Bruce Karsten will serve UK customers from his headquarters in Walton-on-Thames, England.

There's still time to register for Park's Tech Summit

ST. PAUL, MN (BRAIN)—Shop mechanics can still get places at this year's Park Tool Tech Summits, being held in Atlanta and Minneapolis.

Houston gets bike-sharing program

Houston, Texas, is the latest community to set up a bike sharing program in an effort to reduce pollution and traffic and improve citizens' health.

The city council last week awarded a $105,000 contract to a company to install three solar-powered bike kiosks downtown, according to Chron.com, the Houston Chronicle's website. The Houston program is modeled on one in San Antonio, which has 20 bike share kiosks.

Southeast Bike Expo planned for Conyers, Georgia, in February

A first-year consumer-trade bike expo is planned for February 25-26 in Conyers, Georgia, the site of the 1996 Olympic mountain bike race.

Organizers say they have room for 1,000 vendors. Consumers and retailers can test ride mountain bikes and road bikes on nearby trails. A portion of ticket sales will benefit IMBA and SORBA.
