Rocky Mountain spec'ing CushCore tire inserts on some bike models

Published November 1, 2021

BEND, Ore. (BRAIN) — Four 2022 Rocky Mountain Bicycles models will arrive at shops with CushCore tire inserts already installed. It is likely the first time a major brand has spec'd tire inserts as original equipment.

The brand's Enduro team has been racing with the inserts since 2018. The inserts are said to support the tire sidewalls for improved cornering, as well as damping vibrations and protecting the tire and rim from bottoming out.

"Proven to work between the tape, CushCore is now standard equipment so every rider can ride with total confidence," CushCore said in a release.

Dan Hallada, CushCore's vice president and marketing manager, said CushCore manufactures its liners in Mexico and Taiwan. "Our valves are also made in Taiwan.  Rocky Mountain’s factory is also in Taiwan so the inserts and valves only have a short trip to there," Hallada told BRAIN. He said the liners and valves are installed at the factory.

Hallada said the company is hoping other brands will also spec the liners but he has no agreements to announce yet.

CushCore will come on the following 2022 Rocky Mountain models: Altitude Carbon 90 Rally Edition; Altitude Powerplay Alloy 70; Altitude Powerplay Carbon 70; Altitude Powerplay Carbon 90 Rally Edition.

CushCore added a second liner factory this year which has helped it maintain steady inventory. The company said its sales are up 68% this year.
