Action Sports Giant Brand Store Opening

Published August 13, 2010

BRANFORD, CT (BRAIN)—While other retailers in the New Haven/Branford area have scaled back operations in this challenging economy, Paul von Maffei, owner of Action Sports, believed he could grow his operation.

Von Maffei has partnered with Giant Bicycles to develop a Giant Brand Store (GBS) program. There are only 24 of these stores nationwide, according to a press release.

A grand opening celebration of their new space is being planned for August 22, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and features the world-renowned bicycle stuntman, Jeff Lenosky. He will perform for the public at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. This world record holder and trials riding legend will also participate in bike maintenance clinics, available to the public throughout the day. Following Lenosky's performances, he will be available for signing autographs. Refreshments and giveaways will add to the festivities.

In the last several months, Action Sports Bicycle Center and Giant Bicycles have created a retail environment that was designed to make Action Sports the most cutting-edge sports retailer in the area. Rich DeCarlo, bicycle center manager and competitive downhill racer (who has been ranked #6 in his expert class) offered, “Action Sport’s new store will be respected in the biking community. It has the latest cutting edge products and technology, and now the bike center is open year round.” He continued, “I have always worked on each customer’s bike like it was my own. That will never change.”
