Midwest Cycling Opens New Trek Concept Stores

Published April 28, 2011

OMAHA, NE (BRAIN)—Midwest Cycling has opened two new Trek Concept Stores this month in Independence and Arnold, Missouri.

Owners Jay Thomas and Kent McNeill now have six Trek Bicycle Stores in Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri. Their stores rank within Trek's top-15 largest retailers by sales.

"Success by the numbers is great and we've really come to appreciate the joys of running stores efficiently," Thomas said. "But really it's the principles of customer service and connection with the needs of area cyclists that are driving our success. We have as many metrics for measuring customer satisfaction and loyalty in our stores as we do for measuring sales and inventory."

The Independence location is 5,800 square feet. The Arnold location is 6,000 square feet.

Opening new stores in these markets was a logical next step for Midwest Cycling. "Our stores in Kansas City and St. Louis have been growing at a steady pace year after year, with the two stores competing for the No. 1 spot in our company each month," McNeill said. "Both markets have tremendous cycling communities, and we sought out these new locations based on customer feedback and comprehensive evaluation the areas in the metro that were underserved by current bicycle retailers."
