Wolf Tooth offers more elliptical chainring options for 1x bikes

Published January 11, 2016

MINNEAPOLIS (BRAIN) — Wolf Tooth is now shipping Drop-Stop Elliptical chainrings for Shimano's XT M8000, Shimano's 110 BCD 4-bolt road/cx, and Race Face's Cinch Fat Bike Cranks that need a special Reverse Dish chainring for the correct chainline.

The M8000 and Shimano 110 bolt Elliptical rings use a similar design to Wolf Tooth's round chainring offerings for those cranks.

The Race Face Reversed Dished Elliptical chainrings are specifically designed with the optimal chainline (75mm), for fat bikes that have 190mm rear hub spacing but use cranksets designed around 170mm rear hub spacing. This configuration allows for a narrower or "normal" fat bike q-factor even when running the fattest of tires.

"While this might sound like a super niche, most popular 190mm rear hub fat bikes are now being designed around this standard including the Trek Farley, Specialized Fat Boys, Pivot Les Fat, and Borealis Bikes to name a few," Wolf Tooth said.

The new rings are machined in Minneapolis from 7075-T6 aluminum and take advantage of Wolf Tooth's patent-pending Drop-Stop tooth profile for chain retention and mud shedding.

Retail prices: Elliptical chainring for M8000 Cranksets - $64.95; Elliptical chainring for Shimano's 110 4-bolt Cranksets - $78.95; Elliptical RD (Reverse Dish) chainring for Race Face Cinch Cranksets - $69.95.
