Magura's upside-down fork aimed at e-bikes

Published July 27, 2016

OLNEY, Ill. (BRAIN) —  The new Magura Boltron suspension fork was developed for e-MTBs. The fork was developed with WP Performance Systems, an Austria-based motocross suspension company.

The company said modern e-MTBs are ridden at higher speeds and have a higher weight than standard bikes, requiring new technologies for increased braking stiffness and optimum absorption of the braking forces.

"The e-bike and e-MTB market are important for Magura and its products. Alongside the MT and HS braking systems, which are already well received in the e-bike segment, our aim is to also demonstrate and provide our e-competence in the suspension sector," said Michael Funk, director at Magura.

The Boltron offers 120 or 150mm of travel with an air shock and a 110x20 axle system. It has post mounts for disc calipers and is designed for 180mm rotors. The inner fork legs are 35mm in diameter, the outer legs are 40mm. Weight is 2,200 grams including leg protectors and a thru axle.

WP supplies suspension systems to many major motorbike makers, including KTM and Husqvarna. KTM and Haibike will each present new e-MTBs equipped with the Bolton at Eurobike.
