Thousands of Kids to Ride with IMBA

Published October 1, 2009

BOULDER, CO (BRAIN)—Celebrated on the first Saturday of each October, the next edition of IMBA’s International Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day is tomorrow.

This year’s turnout will be the largest ever, with more than 7,100 kids registered and ready to ride their bikes in 167 official events.

“We are thrilled with the participation numbers for this year’s event,” said executive director Mike Van Abel. “Kids already love to ride their bikes, but this IMBA program helps connect them with quality trails and great bike parks. Add the support provided by our dedicated volunteer ride leaders and these kids get the best possible mountain biking experience.”

This year the National Park Service is teaming up with Trips For Kids to bring young riders into national parks for a Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day ride. The kids will learn from park rangers and even complete a small service project so they can give back to the land.
