Goin’ Solo: Santa Cruz launches new tweener model

Published June 3, 2013

SANTA CRUZ, CA (BRAIN) — Delving deeper into 27.5-inch wheels, Santa Cruz Bicycles has introduced the new Solo model in carbon and aluminum versions for the tweener hoop size.

The Solo boasts 125 millimeters of travel—compared with 150 millimeters for Santa Cruz’s Bronson 27.5-inch enduro bike, introduced in April—and a 68-degree head angle, mimicking the brand’s Blur TR and TRc 26-inch trail bikes. It also gets 142-millimeter rear axle spacing, two bottle mounts, sealed pivots with grease ports, ISCG-05 tabs and molded rubber frame protection.

Completes start at $3,299 for the aluminum version and $4,199 for carbon. The carbon frame with Fox Float CTD shock weighs in at a hair over 5 pounds in medium, compared with 5.73 pounds for aluminum.
