Seattle's Evo.com buys Denver's Edgeworks and The Bicycle Doctor

DENVER (BRAIN) — Seattle-based action sports and outdoor retailer Evo has acquired two Denver businesses owned by Matt Hupperts: the Edgeworks ski shop and The Bicycle Doctor bike shop.

Hupperts has been operating the two stores from Broadway Avenue for more than 25 years. The companies said the new structure will create an omni-channel shopping experience where customers can shop in person or order online with in-store pickup.

“Growing our reach and creating community-focused experiences is central to where we are taking Evo, and we are grateful to have this opportunity to partner with Matt,” said Bryce Phillips, Evo’s founder and CEO. “He has a great team with an exceptional reputation, and we have a shared commitment to doing something special in the Denver market together. Professionally and personally, this is exciting for me given a strong, lifelong connection to Colorado – my mom grew up in Allenspark, Colorado, and my wife’s family lives in Denver – and we have long looked at how Evo could be more involved in the state. From all perspectives, I could not be happier about this big step forward for Evo.”

The current Edgeworks and Bicycle Doctor location will continue to provide ski, snowboard, and bicycle rentals, service, and repair. The company will renovate the space and open a new Evo retail and service storefront in the fall.

“We are very excited to work with evo,” said Huppert. “From e-commerce to store locations, Evo brings so much to the retail platform. Working together we can build on our vision of service, rental, and demo to complete that experience at an even greater level.”

The partnership with Edgeworks/The Bicycle Doctor follows the introduction earlier this year of Evo’s La Familia program, which provides streamlined service and free local delivery in partnership with independent specialty retailers around the country. Last year, Evo.com announced that area retailer Big Tree Bikes was moving its operations inside Evo's store.
