Kalamazoo, MICH. – Open Roads Bike Program will relocate to a larger location in Kalamazoo’s Edison Neighborhood this summer. Located at 914 E. Vine Street and the former site of KalBlue, the new location is an ideal space for the non-profit organization to expand its services, programs, and bike co-op.

The relocation is possible thanks to support from the Kalamazoo Community Foundation (KZCF) and a loan through its Impact Investment Team.

“We are incredibly excited to establish our new home in the heart of the Edison Neighborhood,” said Open Roads Executive Director Isaac Green. “This new space allows us to better serve the community by providing an expanded workshop, a dedicated classroom, a larger retail space, and improved office facilities for our growing staff and programming. We’re looking forward to welcoming more riders and learners than ever before.”

Open Roads will continue operating from its current location at 1523 Riverview Drive until May 22. It plans to officially open its new location in July.

The relocation signifies a new chapter for Open Roads, reinforcing its commitment to empowering youth and the community through bicycling education and mentorship.

“As a funded partner of the Kalamazoo Community Foundation, we are grateful for their support in making this transition possible,” Green added. “Their investment allows us to grow and expand our reach, ensuring that more young people and families can experience the freedom and confidence that comes with learning to ride and repair bikes.”

The new location will serve as a hub for Open Roads’ signature programs, including Earn-a-Bike, Fixapalooza, and youth STEM and leadership initiatives. The larger space will provide opportunities for deeper community engagement, partnerships, and hands-on learning experiences.

“We are excited to be more accessible than ever, and we look forward to learning and riding with our community,” Green said. “This move is more than just a new building—it’s an opportunity to make a lasting impact on Kalamazoo’s youth and cyclists of all ages.”
