KONA, HI (BRAIN) — Continuing a long tradition, journalists at this weekend's Kona Ironman championships counted bikes and other gear used by athletes at the legendary event.

HOUSTON, TX (BRAIN) — Kyle Bennett, a member of the 2008 U.S. Olympic BMX team, was killed early Sunday in a single-vehicle auto accident.

According to reports, Bennett, 33, died when he drove his truck off a road and through a culvert, hitting several trees and a gate.

MADISON, WI (BRAIN) — Schwinn is working with the ThinkFirst National Injury Foundation to launch a bike helmet education campaign. The goal of the Helmet on Heads campaign is to educate one million kids about bike helmet safety over the next 10 years.

NEWBURY PARK, CA (BRAIN) —For the second year, Liv-giant is holding a contest for breast cancer survivors to design a special edition Avail road bike, which will be sold to benefit Young Survival Coalition, an organization supporting young women diagnosed with breast cancer.
