Recon will unveil Hummer e-bike at SEMA Show Tuesday

Published November 1, 2022

LAS VEGAS (BRAIN) — Recon Power Bikes entered a global licensing agreement with GMC to release a new e-bike here today at the SEMA Show to complement the auto manufacturer's Hummer EV Supertruck. SEMA — produced by the Specialty Equipment Market Association — is the trade show for the automotive aftermarket industry.

The GMC Hummer EV All-Wheel Drive E-bike has twin 750-watt hub motors with a thumb throttle, five levels of pedal assist, and three riding modes. It has an LG battery with 48 volts and 17Ah, with the option to upgrade to 21Ah. The e-bike will come from the factory set with max assist at 20 mph, but it can be changed to 28 mph by the consumer.

It will retail for $3,999 and will be shipping early next month.

"With design cues and inspiration taken directly from the GMC Hummer EV Supertruck, this e-bike further expands customer's ability to explore different off-road trails — whether in the vehicle or out on the bike," said Rich Latek, GMC marketing director.

The e-bike will be available at GMC dealers and direct to consumer through Recon 90% assembled, a Recon spokesperson told BRAIN, who also said the exact number of GMC dealers carrying the e-bike will be known in 30-60 days. There are about 1,000 GMC dealers nationwide.

The spokesperson said Recon will offer service through a dealer network and mobile service provider.

The SEMA Show ends Friday.

Recon Power Bikes is a provider of e-bikes for law enforcement agencies and the military. Recon bikes are utilized by municipal agencies in 47 states, federal agencies, and three branches of the U.S. military.
