WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a safety warning to consumers to stop riding FENGQS F7 Pro e-bikes because of fire and burn hazards, posing a risk of "serious injury or death."
The e-bikes, about 180 of which are included in the warning and were sold on Amazon, have a defective lithium-ion battery that should be immediately removed and disposed of following local hazardous waste disposal procedures, according to the CPSC.
Nine reports of fires, including two for property damage totalling $12,000, have been reported to the CPSC. Manufacturer Shenzhen Fengqisi Car Industry Co. Ltd. of China has refused to agree to a recall, the CPSC said.
The e-bikes were sold in blue with "FENGQS" printed on the downtube and the model F7 Pro on the chainstay. They were sold on Amazon.com from May 2024 through December 2024 for between $700 and $1,200.
The CPSC warns not to throw the battery into the trash, curbside recycling bins, or used battery recycling receptacles at home-improvement stores. Municipal household hazardous waste collection centers might accept defective lithium-ion batteries or can offer further information where they can be taken, the CPSC said.
