SALT LAKE CITY (BRAIN) — Clarus Corp., which owns the Black Diamond outdoor brand and the Rhino-Rack and Rocky Mounts rack brands, announced third-quarter sales of $69.3 million, up 3% from the same quarter last year.
Clarus recorded a net loss of $1.6 million in the quarter, compared to a net loss of $3.2 million in the period last year.
“During the third quarter, we continued to navigate a challenging global consumer landscape,” said Warren Kanders, Clarus’ Executive Chairman. “Amidst the macro uncertainty, particularly with respect to evolving tariff policies and consumer behavior, our focus is on controlling what we can to position Clarus for sustainable, profitable growth as market conditions normalize.”
Clarus said sales in its Adventure segment — which includes Rhino-Rack and Rocky Mounts — increased 16% to $20.7 million in the quarter, compared to $17.8 million in the year-ago quarter. Clarus acquired Rocky Mounts in May; it said the Colorado-based brand contributed $1.5 million in sales during the third quarter.
Sales in the Clarus Outdoor division, which includes Black Diamond, decreased 1% to $48.7 million. Clarus said the decrease was due to a shift in timing for independent global distributor revenues into the second quarter and lower global direct-to-consumer revenues. The company also sold its PIEPS outdoor brand in July. It noted that Outdoor sales to North American retailers were up 16% in the quarter.
Clarus' stock is traded on Nasdaq under the CLAR symbol.
