ASHEVILLE, N.C. (BRAIN) — Blaupunkt Americas has opened its e-bike production facility here, fulfilling a promise it announced last September.
The factory has an initial capacity of about 5,000 units per year, said Brian Tedesco, the president of Blaupunkt Americas. It shifts the assembly process from Blaupunkt's facility in Asunción, Paraguay, to the U.S.
The operation was established in partnership with Kitzuma Cycling Logistics, a provider of bicycle assembly, fulfillment, and supply chain services. Tedesco said it enables Blaupunkt to shift production to the U.S. mainland while strengthening speed-to-market and operational control.
“With the launch of our Asheville facility, Blaupunkt eBikes are now being manufactured in the United States,” said Tedesco. “This is a strategic move to enhance supply chain efficiency, improve delivery timelines, and align with growing demand for domestically produced mobility products.”
“This facility allows us to combine Blaupunkt’s German engineering heritage with American manufacturing execution,” Tedesco added. “It positions us for scalable growth while delivering a premium product built closer to the customer.”
Blaupunkt's cast magnesium frames will continue to be made in Malaysia or China, he told BRAIN last year.
Chris Cosgrove, CEO of Kitzuma Cycling Logistics, added: “We are proud to partner with Blaupunkt Americas on this initiative. This collaboration underscores Kitzuma’s ability to support scalable manufacturing and logistics solutions for leading brands looking to establish or expand U.S.-based production.”
