Protective gear brand, Leatt, reports revenues up by 25 percent

Published August 14, 2015

CAPE TOWN, South Africa (BRAIN) — The protective gear brand Leatt Corporation is reporting that sales in its second quarter were up 25 percent over the same period last year, to $5.2 million.

Leatt Corporation's corporate headquarters are in Cape Town. Its stock is traded on the OTCQB exchange under the LEAT symbol.

CEO Sean Macdonald noted that in the quarter Leatt began shipping its new Airflex protective gloves, marketing for downhill mountain biking and motocross. He said neck brace sales were slightly down during the period, but that was more than offset by the continued growth of Leatt's body armor sales, which grew by 75 percent year-to-year.

Looking at the company's first half,  revenues were up 20 percent $9.2 million.

Looking ahead, Macdonald expects continued sales growth as Leatt introduces its first helmet in the second half this year. The first helmets will be full-face models designed for motocross and mountain biking.
