Strava adds indoor workouts to app

Published October 31, 2013

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (BRAIN) — Strava has added indoor workout videos to its mobile device apps.

The workouts, developed by training video supplier The Sufferfest, are available now to premium Strava members. The updated Strava app now contains three workout videos and more will be added. Premium membership is available for $6 per month or $59 annually.

“Adding quality video content provides (users) with instruction and extra motivation, and it comes at just the right time for many of our athletes who don't want to let weather get in the way of their workouts," said Michael Horvath, Strava's co-founder and CEO.

Each video features a structured workout focused on a particular training element such as speed, time trialing, climbing and more. The Sufferfest videos contain pro race video footage and instructions that feature The Sufferfest's trademark brand of humor.  The videos can be played on a phone or tablet. Users with Apple mobile devices can stream the video to a TV monitor via Apple's Airplay feature. Android users can connect their device to a TV with an HDMI cable.

The Strava app is available for free download on the iTunes and Android app stores.
